Draft — pending legal review. This is a working draft for our beta. It describes how Making Paper actually works today, but it isn’t a substitute for professional legal advice.

Making Paper (“we,” “us”) is a chore-and-reward app for families. A parent or guardian creates the account and adds a profile for each child. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Accounts are for adults (18+) who are a parent or legal guardian. Parents set everything up and enter their children’s information themselves. Children never create their own accounts.
Please use a first name or nickname only. Making Paper does not need your child’s full name, address, birthday, photo, or other identifying details, so please don’t enter them.
We do not sell your or your child’s information, and we do not show ads.
We use PostHog to measure how the app is used and to review anonymized session recordings that help us fix confusing screens. Two things matter here: we identify only the parent account, by an internal ID (never a name or email inside analytics), and we do not identify children — a child’s play session stays anonymous. Session recordings mask every text field, so passwords and PINs are never captured. If you use a browser tracker-blocker, the app simply skips analytics and keeps working.
We share information only with service providers who process it on our behalf:
These providers may process data in the United States.
Making Paper is intended to be used by parents and guardians, who provide any information about their children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. As a parent you can, at any time, review, correct, or delete your child’s information — remove a child’s profile or your whole family inside the app, or email us and we’ll take care of it. If you believe a child has given us information directly, contact us and we’ll delete it.
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete a child profile or your entire family from the app at any time. To delete your whole account, email privacy@makingpaper.app (self-serve account deletion is coming soon).
Data is encrypted in transit, passwords are hashed, and access is restricted per-family by database security rules. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your family’s information.
You can access, correct, or delete your and your child’s information at any time in the app or by emailing us.
We’ll update this page when our practices change and revise the “last updated” date above. We’ll highlight significant changes when you next sign in.
